Turkey: Cappadocia got my tongue

At 0500 hours, jacket zipped up to my neck, I discovered that the much-hyped Cappadocia hot air balloon ride isn’t overrated.

There is simply no better way to take in all of Cappadocia, the Land of Fairy Chimneys, with its unique conical limestone rock formations and arid landscape. During my entire trip, this was the only thing I made sure to book in advance, and it turned out to be a good call. A lucky one, too, because it happened to be the last sunny day before a series of rainy ones.

Without further ado, because I am still as tongue-tied and mesmerized reviewing my photos as I was during the ride itself, I’ll let my favorite snaps (in semi-chronological order) tell the story of that most magical April morning.
